About this speaker
"I’m a manager in the Strategic Analytics group at Universal Music Group, where I use financial and streaming activity data from digital streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube to provide strategic recommendations and support to a range of stakeholders at UMG. Projects I’ve worked on have included supporting deal negotiations with our biggest streaming partners, forecasting the impact of business moves from music apps (like feature changes and market entry), and creating reports and dashboards on the performance of our music catalog relative to the industry at large. I’m super passionate about the business of entertainment and media, data visualization and storytelling, and the ethical, philosophical and economic interplay between art and technology.
Prior to UMG, I worked at a telecom and media strategy consulting house, as well as an investment management firm. Different data tools/languages like SQL, R and Alteryx have helped me automate processes and ingest big datasets at each one of these roles. I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2017 with a degree in economics and finance, and a similar focus on statistics, data and coding.
Outside of work, I’m just as big a music nerd – you can catch me playing the cello in local classical ensembles both large and small, and when I’ve got time, I’ll sit in front of my computer for hours geeking out about software synths, sample packs and everything else related to dance music production."
